Chet and Marlene started ODP in 1972 while Chet was a plasterer and Marlene was starting the office. The magic all started in their home which later turned into an office at the Santa Clara Valley Builders Exchange, which led to their current location that they have been at for 35 years. In the beginning of ODP they were awarded two large projects (Ohlone College and Kaiser Marin Hospital) that scared them but they
were able to finish them with success. Chet would also work on the vehicles, mixers, pumps and all the equipment to keep everything running, and you would always find him here on the weekends prepping for the next week of work. They are truly the "hands on" owners and enjoy being involved. Of course there were many pitfalls and challenges along the way, but after bringing together a dynamic team, they have been able to continue ODP into the 2nd and 3rd generation now leading its way.
Chet would love to plaster the world if he could and believes that no job is too small. You can find them both in the office to this day as they take great pride in seeing what ODP is doing and continues to be involved as much as they can. They have built many friendships along the way and treasure the long lasting professional and personal relationships they have with their business partners.
Controller/Officer
Shawna was born into the construction industry! She grew up listening to her parents talk about work often, and enjoyed going to the yard to play in the sand and dirt piles while her Dad worked the trucks and such. She joined the ODP team in 1995, after working for a large owner/developer as well as a GC. She handles a wide variety of tasks which includes: project Admin, Safety, A/P and A/R, contracts, insurance, and anything else that needs to be taken care of for ODP. Shawna is second generation, and now training third generations her daughter and son for the family business.
Her biggest strength is leadership in which she brings to the ODP team by leading meetings, keeping things moving forward with teamwork along with constant communication. She is usually available 24/7 for our team and looks forward to moving ODP into its future.
She has been actively involved in the industry for over 25 years and truly enjoys making a difference. She serves on the WACA board, been a member of NAWIC since 1996, Trustee for numerous union groups, as well as a board member for ASPE

Plastering Superintendent/ Officer
Jeff O'Donnell started working for the family business as soon as he started to push a broom, and help around the yard. Summers in high school were spent helping load trucks, filling gas cans and helping clean up around job sites or whatever he was asked to help with. He always enjoyed being in the construction industry and getting his hands dirty. He joined the Plasterers union and became a plasterer working on numerous job sites along with supervising large crews and working as a foreman as he climbed his way up.
As his dad, Chet, started to take a step back in dispatching and going to job sites, Jeff soon took over the role as Plastering Superintendent, and overseeing the plastering crews. It's been a job he enjoys and interacting with the General Contractors superintendents as well. Jeff is very social and enjoys being around others and making sure all projects are successful with the right crews completing them.
In his spare time he enjoys golfing, hunting, camping, boating, fishing, wine tasting and spending with his family.
Lathing Superintendent
Jose Lopez joined the Local Union Drywall Lather Brotherhood in 2007. He started his journey with WPI in July 2007 from the bottom as an apprentice doing framing, then moved on to join the ODP Team in December 2007 and have been with them ever since.
He graduated/completed the apprenticeship as a drywall/lather in 2011, training to become a foreman starting a few years later at the UC Santa Cruz job working with Jeff Kelly.
Thanks to the ODP team/family and Dave Jarland, he's learned the skills to enjoy what he does and set a high standard to make sure the jobs is done right.

Kira joined O'Donnell Plastering Inc. in 2022, straight out of high school. Ever since she was a little girl her plan was to join the family business. In high school she was given the opportunity to take two types of construction classes, which only made her love of construction grow.
We can't wait to see what Kira does here at ODP!
